The synopsis:

Professor Gabriel Emerson has left his position at the University of Toronto to embark on a new life with his beloved Julianne. Together, he’s confident that they can face any challenge. And he’s eager to become a father.

But Julianne’s graduate program threatens Gabriel’s plans, as the pressures of being a student become all consuming. When she is given the honor of presenting an academic lecture at Oxford, Gabriel is forced to confront her about the subject of her presentation – research that conflicts with his own. And in Oxford, several individuals from their past appear, including an old nemesis intent on humiliating Julia and exposing one of Gabriel’s darkest secrets.

In an effort to confront his remaining demons, Gabriel begins a quest to discover more about his biological parents, beginning a chain of events that has startling repercussions for himself, Julianne, and his hope of having a family.

My review:

“Our seduction was most definitely mutual. You’re the only woman who ever persuaded me to give my heart. And you still seduce me, Mrs. Emerson. Every day.”

I think it’s needless to say that Gabriel’s Redemption, the third and the last installment of the Gabriel Series, was my most anticipated book of 2013. The story of Gabriel and Julia has a very special place in my heart, and I couldn’t wait to see how everything was going to turn out in their life. Let me begin by saying that I was blown away by the beauty and perfection of this last installment. Every single page, every single scene conveyed so much emotion that I often found myself with happy tears to my eyes. Once again, as it always happens when I review a novel by Sylvain Reynard, I find myself at loss for words, because I believe there are no adequate words to describe the perfection of his writing and all the beautiful emotions he conveys through the pages.

Gabriel and Julia are now newlyweds and they’re experiencing the beauty and also the challenges of married life. But they still have a lot to learn: how to leave with each other, how to heal wounds that are still open…But their special and unique love always keeps them together— they learn how to best support one another, proving what it means to really love your partner. There are still some hurdles to overcome, though. Secrets from the past, vindictive people who will still try to tear them apart, insecurities, fears…Will Gabriel and Julia be able to face up to these new challenges, and will their dreams and hopes come true?

Gabriel…welll…It’s no secret that he’s my favorite book boyfriend. He’s gone through such an amazing transformation since we first met him in Gabriel’s Inferno—a transformation brought about by Julia’s love, faith and forgiveness. He’s learned how to love, how to give selflessly and how to put other people’s needs before his own. But, when we meet him at the beginning of the book, he still needs to climb a few steps in order to reach that redemption he’s been seeking. His spiritual journey was beautiful to witness in Gabriel’s Redemption, and he often took decisions that surprised me, in a good way. He’s not the uptight Professor anymore, he’s a man full of hope and unconditional love, a man who learns to forgive even those who hurt him the most…

Julia has always been a character very dear to me, as I’ve already said in my reviews of the previous two books. She’s a character that never ceases to surprise me with her goodness and strength, and she does so also in Gabriel’s Redemption. She stays close to her husband every step of the way towards redemption, guiding him as his Beatrice. And what pleasantly surprised me in this book is this—both Gabriel and Julia guide each other in their spiritual journeys. Whereas in the previous two books, it was mostly Julia who showed Gabriel the right path, in Gabriel’s Redemption both husband and wife become guides to each other: they learn to make the right decisions together, they encourage each other when fears and insecurities seem to overtake them, and together they never lose hope.

As always, the love scenes are beautiful and very, very sensual. Never vulgar, never inappropriate, always full of emotion and passion.
GRed quote

What I always love about Sylvain Reynard’s books is the depth we find in his writing. Hope, faith, forgiveness are ever-present and there are a lot of passages that, to me, can be considered as life lessons. We can learn a lot from Gabriel and Julia’s love story.

“Apart from God, the only person who can forgive me is the one I’ve wronged. That’s the power we have. We can use that power for good —to forgive someone. Or we can use it to hold on to old wrongs and hurts so that they never heal.”

I was also happy to meet again all the wonderful secondary characters we got to know and love in Gabriel’s Inferno and Gabriel’s Rapture and there will be several surprises….;) As for Paulina, Simon, and Christa, again you’ll be surprised and satisfied with how things will turn out…And the ending…well…it’s everything I hoped it would be and I couldn’t stop my happy tears from flowing.

The Gabriel Series will always have a special place in my heart and on my bookshelf. I’m sad to have to say goodbye to Gabriel and Julia, but I know that I’ll always keep them in my heart, and that I’ll re-read their wonderful and unique love story countless times. It’s a given that I’ll read everything by Sylvain Reynard and I’m already looking forward to his paranormal series, The Raven.

I give Gabriel’s Redemption 5 glittering stars.

More beautiful passages:

“I could live with you forever and still you would surprise me.”

“Your beauty always takes my breath away.”

“I could spend the rest of my life inside you and die happy. You’re my home.”
